Unforgettable Character

Sydney was a friend and fellow classmate of Lauren.  She wrote this paper during her first semester of college.  It was a gift to us to read about how happy Lauren’s last day was, and how she touched the lives of her friends in a positive way.  Her beautiful legacy will live on in the hearts and smiles of her family, and friends.

Most Unforgettable Character or Someone Who Taught You Something Important

On February 20, 2009, I lost one of the happiest, most carefree people I have ever known.  Anyone who knew Lauren would be able to support my theory of her fabulous personality.  While losing her to a car accident was tragic, it is her joy for life that mattered most.  Lauren Rodney was a beautiful blue eyed girl and was always full of life.  She was a member of my senior class at a small Catholic school. We were all extremely close, more like a family than a class.  Many would agree that Lauren earned the title of class clown.  I can still hear her laughter and her unique singing voice.  I remember her scent, which always reminded me of fresh flowers.  I will never forget  that last February day I spent with her.  We r we were all outside along the pavement.  Lauren, being the funny character she was, picked up every bead possible and put them around her neck, almost to where she could barely move.  Something in her that day was extra special, she was even more hyper than usual. When the bell finally rang, Lauren, two other girls, and I sped to the town’s only café.  We ate and laughed, and laughed even more when Lauren’s ex boyfriend walked through the door.  After grubbing down, we ran outside and hugged each other bye.  Before I reached my car, Lauren yelled out “love you Masyd”, I smiled and said “I love you too Lauren!”  I never dreamt it would be our last encounter.  However, the joy she held is now instilled into my heart and although we lost a special girl that day, her happiness lives on.  Lauren has taught me to love life and not to take anything for granted but most importantly she taught me life is really not that serious.
