The Waiting

That is what I have come to call the rest of my life, the waiting. I think of it like the waiting room at the doctors office. You sit there, and patiently wait your turn, never knowing when you will be called.

It can be a miserable experience, just waiting there, feeling sorry for yourself, and wishing you could be some place else....or it can be not so bad, and even entertaining, if you make it that way.

I have always tried to make the waiting room a fun time for my children. We would enjoy being together, watch people around us, or read books together.

I remember sitting in the doctors office with Lauren for the last time. It was about 3 weeks before she died. Somehow, I knew it was our last doctors visit together. I just thought I was feeling that way because she would be turning 18 soon, and wouldn't need me to bring her anymore.

Now I know it was more than that.

So, here I sit, in my own waiting room.  I make the best of it every day that I can.  I enjoy my time spent with my husband and my children while I wait to be called.  I try to inspire them to make the most of their time spent waiting too.
